PostSubject: Loki (Example of an ideal application)   Loki (Example of an ideal application) Icon_minitimeMon Aug 26, 2013 1:58 pm

Name: Loki

Age: 28

Gender: Male

Description: Loki is a young man. His body is built quite average looking for a young man as well. He is roughly 6 foot and 2 inches tall, give or take a centimeter. He is naturally slender too. He only weighs 210 pounds, taking his height into equation its not that much. His muscles are toned quite well and can be seen fairly easily. His arms looking hardly more than round cylinders without a second glance.

He has a young face. Its kept clean shaven at almost all times. Combine that with his slightly long black hair that rolls down to his eyes and he has the look of a teenage punk. His eyes however are somewhat of an oddity. Each of them being a different color, and the colors themselves unique as well. The left eye is a light red, almost crimson, with a light amber looking color on the very edges of the iris. The other eye is of course a yellowish-brown, Amber if you will, with the very edges of the iris shifting into a light red, being the opposite of his left eye.

He often seen wearing a variety of T-shirts, pants, shorts, long sleeved shirts, jackets. If it can be worn, Loki can be seen wearing it. His most general attire that he can be seen wearing most often would be a comprised of a white button up shirt, covered by a black jacket and black slacks.

Personality:  Loki is a relatively calm, friendly, and easy going person. He is very polite, respectable, and sometimes very suave when he speaks, making him the perfect gentleman. He has a playful sense of humor, and tends to be very sarcastic and will often tease or make jokes at the expensive of others in good fun. He does however know when to stop joking and be serious, such as having a conversation where his jokes would be inappropriate, or when talking to his superiors. He is extremely sharp minded and has great observational skill, tending to notice things other's don't, a trait he picked up to help him detail things better for his writing. He tends to treat most combat situations like a game and will continue to make jokes even teasing his opponent, unless something should happen that changes his mood. He likes high places and tends to be found relaxing somewhere high such as in a tree or on the roof of a building when not doing anything. He also enjoys reading good books, which has led to a passion for writing his own poetry and novels during his free time and is relaxing. Loki tends to do what he thinks is right, but what he thinks is right isn't always the right thing.

Rank: Forgotten One

Village: Konoha

Character history: Some ninja are taught to cover up emotion. Its inhabitants are taught to cover up fear. And couples are quickly taught to cover up problems. To admit failure in a relationship would be to admit weakness. Thus, relationships such as that of Loki’s parents continue for years, decades, lifetimes. This particular story of tragedy is not a new one, however. It goes as follows: Boy meets girl. Boy marries girl. Girl has a baby. Boy gets drunk.

Loki’s mother, Ayame, was an angel among mortals. Her luscious golden hair reflected the light, creating a halo of brilliance around her. She was coveted by many during her childhood, but through her naïveté she chose the wrong one. Ebisu was a brutish man, who held semblances of good looks, but the personality of a boar. He knew how to seduce a girl, and took advantage of Ayame’s virginity to trick her into a relationship, and trick her into marriage. Things were good for a while, but then Loki was born, and Ebisu began frequenting the bars, unable to deal with parenthood. The first big fight came when Ayame announced she wanted to move to Konohagakure. Ebisu, whose entire heritage lay in the hidden mist, refused, and resorted to force when words were not enough. The screams were so loud at first that Loki, now four years old, couldn’t help but notice. As Ebisu pushed his mother up against the wall, her hands grasped in his, and his distorted face inches away from hers, Loki looked on in frightened ignorance. The light from the window covered Ayame in her heavenly halo.

Ayame attempted to bring up the issue many times, determined to give Loki a better life than she had, but every time it led to her against the wall, or on the floor. Soon, Ebisu’s visits to the bar became more frequent, and his abuse occured more often, and less provoked. One night Ebisu attempted to take his anger out on Loki, and Ayame through herself in front of her child. Ebisu gave up on the boy, but instead increased his usual beating on Ayame. Loki sat crunched up in the corner, tears rolling down his eyes as blood rolled from his mother’s. Loki quickly learned to become invisible. He hid as best he could, covering his ears to the frightening screams. Outside a thick mist perpetually stood, acting as earmuffs to the outside world.

Then, one night, Ebisu had a change of heart. There was only one thing more shameful than leaving the hidden mist: being responsible for his wife’s death. It was not that he killed her with his fists, but mentally she was dead long before she publicly committed suicide. Loki’s troubled present can largely be traced back to the moment when Loki, happily racing home from his first day of the ninja academy, witnessed his mother dead along the main street of Tsukigakure. It was surreal at first. So much that Loki never saw, and never knew about the note his mother had left him. It was a sweet note.

Ebisu knew all about the note, however, and all about the cruelties it exposed. Though he was a man of cruelty, he was moreover a man of pride, and he couldn’t bear shaming his family’s name. In one last effort to repent for his actions, he uprooted Loki, and travelled to Konohagakure, leaving the dead Ayame behind. Loki, at this point, was so devastated he barely had enough energy to pack up all his things. He felt betrayed by his mother. How could she leave him with this monster? How could she abandon him? No, he felt more than betrayal. He felt anger.

Old habits continued in Konohagakure. The constant sun took the place of the ominous fog, and now Ebisu turned his drunken rages on Loki. Loki was now enrolled in the academy at the age of 8, and turned out to be a sort of prodigy, quickly mastering the basic jutsu and becoming a genin. He now learned how to harness his natural talents of painting, and focused on learning the Sumiton release. At home he began painting more and more, until he ran out of paper and began using the walls. Ebisu hardly approved of this, and whenever he found another drawing, the beatings would get more and more severe. Soon, Loki learned to make his paintings transcend paper, and become three-dimensional, quickly furthering his ninjutsu studies. His favorite thing to draw was lions. He used to imagine that one would go on a rampage and rip his father to pieces.

However, as he got older, and the bruises became more frequent, they became harder and harder to explain. Loki knew when his father was coming home – he could hear him from blocks away – but he was still too weak to prevent anything. One night, after making a large mural of lions on the wall, Loki messed up, and dumped his bucket of paint all over his body. He was covered, and there was no way to hide the evidence of his mistake. He heard his father coming from down the street, and his heart sunk. There was nothing he could do. He ran into the corner, and just like when he was a kid, crunched up in the fetal position. He closed his eyes and hoped more than anything that he could truly be strong; simply acting it was no longer sufficient. He hoped, and hoped, and prayed - prayed to god, prayed to his mother, prayed to the mona lisa, that he wouldn’t have to withstand the upcoming beating. He poured chakra out of his body, which in turn fused with the ground and out rose sharp, gleaming, transparent crystals. Loki’s prayers were answered. Ebisu entered the room, looked around, furious at Loki, but unable to find him. Ebisu slopped down on his bed, and rolled into sleep. By the next morning Loki had cleaned everything up.

And so it was that Loki learned to truly be invisible. He painted beautiful, more complex murals on the wall that his father was helpless to view. He progressed greatly, and began learning fuuinjutsu in the academy. He managed to avoid his father’s drunken rages often, but not completely. Every so often he would be caught painting still, and Loki would have to try his hardest to avoid his father’s punches. Loki grew fast; too fast for his father, in fact. At that point Loki stopped becoming invisible. He liked taunting his father. He harbored so much hate, that the daily “beatings” became the best part of his day, able to make his father seem like a fool. This caused Ebisu’s alcoholism to get worse, and in turn the beatings, but by now Loki was too skilled of a ninja to be hit by a blubbering idiot such as his father. One night, after Ebisu came home particularly drunk, and was humiliated by his son, he went out again for more. Ebisu never returned.

Loki never learned what happened to his father, and he never cared. If he died, and rotted for the rest of the eternity in some back alleyway, then good riddance. Loki, now 14, continued his life, living by himself, and devoting much of his time to being a ninja, and to being an artist. He passed the Chuunin exams with flying colors, and continued progressing. Though he seems to have moved on, he is still haunted by his past in the form of terrifying, cruel dreams. For a long period he feared even going to bed, but eventually learned to cope with his fear through art. Now Loki is 16, and an aspiring ninja, about to receive his very own team. He has matured much since his father’s death, but the events of his childhood will haunt him for the rest of his life. Though he wishes he could forgive her, Loki still holds some resentment towards his dead mother. This resentment is mostly what keeps Loki perpetually dismal. Though he believes her personal effects to be destroyed, this assumption is not completely correct. Somewhere, in the obscurity of the hidden mist, an old weary traveler protects a single hand-written note, which, should it be found, holds the key to Loki’s happiness.

At the age of 18 Loki achieved the rank of Jounin, now a strong and skilled ninja his dreams of finding his happiness may soon be realized. He continues on, living life one day at a time in hopes that he may soon be truly happy...

RP Sample: Loki was born to two Airbenders of the Southern Air Temple, Yehe and Elahni Kundun. When he was child he had taken the common toy test to see if he was an avatar. Loki had no idea at the time but he was chosen, his father however would not have it. Knowing that having their only son taken away he took his son and his wife far away from the temple only to settle down in a different temple under a different name.

As he was growing up at the Air Temple, Loki was always of the...mischievous type, an early hint at his future...very different type of mischief. Naturally his father tried to fix this little issue, with little success. At the very least he managed to get Loki to train with him...most of the time anyways. he much preferred just going around the temple having fun to his father's rigid training sessions. At least 80% of the time, his father won out and he ended up training though. These trainings included both Airbending as well as the basic fundamentals of the Air Nomad's culture and lifestyle. The Airbending aspects of the training stuck significantly better than the other half.

That fact became increasingly obvious as Loki grew older as the frequency with which he abandoned his father's training sessions grew and grew. he silently became enamored with the idea of simply leaving the Air Temple all together. This was not out of some distaste for the Air Temple itself, which he in fact loved, both for the people there and as his home. he wanted to leave simply because he wanted more. Something he felt he didn't have living only at the Air temple. Freedom. Here he had to follow all sorts of rules set down by the Air Council as well as his father. Here he couldn't do whatever he wanted to do or go wherever he wanted to go. he had to obey the standards set by everyone else and could go nowhere but here. he wanted to be like the Air that all those at the temple claimed to revere and use. As far as he was concerned, the Air was the embodiment of freedom and as far as he was concerned staying here also meant he couldn't be like the Air...so he left. In a moment of pure chance, or some may even say fate, as he was sneaking out he happened to overhear a conversatin between his father and mother. His mother was defending him saying he as only a child he was bound to be stubborn but thats when his father slipped up. He said "We should've let him be taken away to do avatar training! It would of saved us all this trouble and money!" Loki wasn't quite sure what to do next. The fact that he may of possibly be the avatar wasn't sinking so he decided to wander, hitching a ride here and there.

For a while he wandered around the Earth Kingdom, doing exactly what he had set out to do, namely: whatever it is he wanted. Things were a tad bit rough after the small amount of money he "borrowed" from his father when he ran out considering how lacking he was in the job department. He didn't exactly know how to "work" per se so an actual job wasn't exactly an option either. Things turned around soon enough though, for better or worse, when he met a young Earthbender by the name of Kalona Fe. Kalona was, for all intents and purposes, a thief. Loki's meeting of this young woman is the singular reason for his decent into the wide world of thievery. Not that he really regrets it.

As a pair, these two quickly became quite the thieving duo. Loki picked up on the tricks of the trade quickly. He took a liking to it just as quickly, though it helped that he ended up not having any moral objections to it. As far as he was concerned morals and laws were just more things that hindered his "freedom" so refused to be obligated into following them. It wasn't all that long until he developed feelings for his partner. As far as he was led to believe, Kalona shared the same feelings. It wasn't until much later, two years later in fact, that it came to his attention that that was far from true. It was brought to his attention that the woman he had fallen in love with was simply using his for his talents, his Airbending giving him access to any number of new places to steal from. When this became obvious to him during an argument the pair was having, Loki left her... for good.

Loki as confused as ever and still a child decided that he would seek out the nearest bending temple to train. He was going to find out if was indeed the avatar. It didn't take much hitchhiking before he found his way to an academy of earth benders. Since he wasn't quite sure himself if he even could he pretended that he couldn't air bend so he wouldn't be refused training in case nobody believed. At first he couldn't earth bend, and he was about to give up when he realised that it took him quite some time just to learn air bending too.  Loki decided to keep at it until he knew for a fact that he wasn't the avatar he was going to keep trying.

Starting at an older age was definitely rough but he eventually got it. After he become somewhat skilled at earthbending he told his master that he was the avatar and needed more teachings. His master of course didn't believe him until Loki thought it was smart to airbend his way around the academy thoroughly shocking everybody. From that moment on his real training started. He trained in earthbending for another year before being sent to the firenation to learn firebending.

His firebending instructor lived on a farm and at first glance definitly didn't seem like he was a bender but to his Loki's surprise he spewed a magnificent looking blue flame that just for show. Loki was expecting to be training for quite some time like he did with earthbending but firebender came to him much, much easier than earthbending did. Instead of two years of training it only took him a year to become quite skilled. He couldn't do anything as spectacular as make blue flame but talent helped him progress quite far.

On his 19th birthday he started his voyage towards a waternation tribe to start his waterbending training. With many years of bending under his belt he felt confidant that he could learn waterbending in even half the time it took him to learn firebending. His overconfidence was a great boost to his morale but he faced many hardships along the way. And by hardships it was mostly hunger. As Avatar he was able to get a free meal here and there but there were many times were he had to sneak food like he used to as a child.

It took about 3 months but he finally made it the water nation tribe that had promised to train him. To his dismay the first part of his training was less training and more sitting around, kind of like a beginner in air bending. The fact the two were so similar made him confident that he could learn it with ease but it also brought some unpleasent memories back. Among the hardships he couldnt help but be a little home sick. In the back of his mind he promised himself to head back to the air temple after he finished training.

While waterbending was easy and it didn't take him long to learn the basics, it took him much longer than he anticipated to become skilled with it. His was problem was comparing it too much to air bending and his lack of focus was his downfall. With time he overcame this problem and was happy with all that he had learned. Of course all that was left was to head back to the air temple, but Loki couldn't help but plan on visiting a real master to learn. Learning was all he could think about at the time and he never thought of his father as a real teacher so maybe all this time he thought his air bending was never good.

During his travels Loki found himself getting sidetracked quite often and a quick trip home turned into a long journey. Many years ending up going by and Loki was now 26 years old and finally just making his way up the steps to the temple. (this is from an avatar site I just joined)
