Return to a Place Once Known Empty
PostSubject: Return to a Place Once Known   Return to a Place Once Known Icon_minitimeTue Sep 24, 2013 7:38 pm

The lush foliage and clear skies had nearly become a mystery to the young boy, his eyes now accustomed to seeing sand dunes stretching into the vast horizon, that was, when his vision wasn't blocked by the sweeping sandstorms that often plagued Suna. Not to mention the air was also considerably cooler than in that arid desert and life seemed to permeate on a completely different level here. Once, the Nara was able to call this land his home and would have gladly been able to continue as such had the rising tensions between the great nations not forced him to move. Now there was sand, and wind, and more sand. Adapting to life in Suna had not been an easy task, terrain aside, the people were different, hardened. Those who had grown up there were used to the wicked conditions though that didn't mean they enjoyed being in them, but enough about that, the Genin was at his true home, at least for the time being.

The only reason he had been permitted to return to Konoha was for the Chunin exams, though there had been strict guidelines put in place about visiting a certain group of people. As much as he wanted to there was little getting around it. Time seemed to crawl by, the result of an always active brain processing many things per second. For a moment Shikatopu thought back to the first part of the exams: the written test. He had passed it with ease, with only one question giving him issues but quickly rectified with the addition of extra credit. That had, for all intents and purposes, given him a perfect score. However, he had enough common sense to realize that the remaining portions would not be as simple. The participants had not been told ahead of time how many or what kinds of tests they would be taking part in, probably to prevent any kind of unfair advantage before hand. Not that it mattered for in the end the strongest would always prevail. Speaking of, the Genin had yet to come across any that he deemed worthy of their title of shinobi. While he did know people in this village, quite a few in fact, it had been years since his last encounter with them so there was no way to tell how strong, or weak, they had become.

With fingers laced together behind his head the boy slowly traversed the village, the familiar patterns of the streets and buildings slowly coming back to him. He wanted badly to return to Konoha, more so for his mothers sake than anything else, but knew that chances were slim at best. Tensions had only continued to rise since Shikatopu's departure, and while he didn't know all of the details the body language of the villagers in both Suna and Konoha spoke volumes. What was to become of these strained relations? Only time would tell...

Return to a Place Once Known Empty
PostSubject: Re: Return to a Place Once Known   Return to a Place Once Known Icon_minitimeThu Sep 26, 2013 3:30 pm

Briallen stood in front of an abandoned building. The building wasn’t in the best of conditions as it seemed to be refuge for the homeless and people dealing in questionable sales and transactions. The walls were defaced with graffiti and had all manner of stains, which gave off a foul order as well; it was hard to believe that this place was once her home. It had been approximately two years since she left Konoha in search of her parents, with no success and seeing she was told to participate in the chunin exam she had to return to her former village. However she was seen as an ordinary participant as no one from konoha seemed to have recognized her, putting her fears to rest, but that also meant that people simply didn’t care about who she was, which was probably a good thing but it hurt nonetheless. After handing some of her Ryo to an elderly homeless man in front of what was left of her home, she entered the house. “Your late honey!” Maria said with her hand on her hips looking at Briallen, she wore her hair like she always did, in a ponytail with a purple headband, one that always matched her eyes. “I’m sorry mom there was this mission and I got lost on the way!” Briallen said taking a seat around the table. “Well the important thing is that your back, now eat up poptart, you need to keep your strength up!” Briallen would smile as she watched how her mother expertly maneuver herself in the kitchen like she always did and that feeling of nostalgia had overwhelmed her. She was home. “Hey, Hey kid you ok?” A rough voice said snapping the young girl out of her hallucination. She would find herself around a broken rat infested table inside the abandoned building. “You looking to buy some aeon flux kid? I got them really cheap!” Briallen looked at the man dressed in a black trench coat with tears stinging her eyes, it was just a hallucination after all and even then she couldn’t get the satisfaction of spending some time with her once more. Briallen would ignore the shady character and would just walk by him as quickly as she could with tears running down her cheeks.

Running through the streets of the village, her eyes swollen from crying, she had wished she had never taken that stupid test and came back here. Konoha was filled with misery and regrets for her, angry and hatred had filled her heart, why did they leave her behind? Was it something she did? And why the fuck no one even remembered who she was. Not watching where she was going she ran straight into a boy who was travelling through the village. Landing on her ass her underwear exposed she would rub her head as she looked at the boy she ran into. “I’m…I’m sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going

The trance of the clouds had put the boy at ease, a bit too much considering what transpired next. The feeling of another body slamming into his made the Genin lose his footing and together the both of them crashed to the ground, his clasped hands providing protection from any head injury. There was a chance this entire situation could have been his fault as his eyes had been glued to the sky, though if that were the case then whoever this person was could have said something so maybe there was fault on their end as well. The voice was feminine and apologetic in nature, affirming Shikatopu's suspicion that he was not entirely his fault.

Dark hues scanned the girl who had run into him, instantly catching note of the various exposed parts of her form. It was quite early for their kind to be running about, no? "It's fine." The boy replied as he rose to his feet before offering a hand for the girl to help herself up with. Shikatopu wasn't surprised that this had happened, every action had consequences of course. A quick glance around the surroundings revealed that he was beginning to venture into the not-so-friendly section of Konoha, a place he rarely visited during his time in the village all those years ago. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise for such an accident to occur which served to snap him back into reality. Shikatopu switched his gaze to the purple haired female standing before him, his earlier assumption now fading with inaccuracy. "What are you doing in this part of the village?" He asked a tad bluntly, unable to sugar coat the inquiry.

Her pink eyes scanned the boy from head to toe and instantly took notice of the headband he was wearing. He was from Sunagakure. An ally was the first thing that came to her mind as she reached out towards the boys out stretched hand but immediately pulled it back after remembering what happened to her in the desert, it was true that she was on good terms with some Suna ninja but she had grown a bit fearful of men, regardless of age and being around them for too long made her a bit, edgy.  She would attempt to get up from off the floor but would fall back down, cringing in pain, as her sprained ankle from her little adventure in the Suna desert was acting up again. Even though Kuma had healed it, it seems as if it was never done properly and this was now a problem. She had no idea what to expect for the next round of the chunin exams and if she had to fight she would be a huge disadvantage. A sigh would escape her lips as she slowly lifted herself up from off the ground and managed to stay up on her feet this time and wiped the tears from her eyes. “I was visiting a friend is all. I can safely say I know my way around this village a bit more than the others that are talking part in these exams. The question is why have you wandered so far?” Briallen said with a puzzled look on her face, she began to feel a bit anxious around him as she started to fiddle with her glasses, she hated going through the cycle of meeting new people but maybe this could be an opportunity to make a new ally. Even though he was a boy, at least he was from Suna so maybe he was different.

A near gasp almost left his lips as the girl slipped and hit the ground once more, wincing in obvious pain. It was clear that she had a lingering injury from some previous altercation though there would be no further inquiry into the matter, at least for now. Her explanation pinged familiar memories within Shikatopu. He, too, was here for the exams and had previous knowledge of the village, though his headband would not give away such. The Genin didn't want to simply reiterate the answer he had just been given, even if it was true. That would lead to unwanted suspicion not that he had anything to hide in the first place. "I'm also here for the Chunin exams, though my cloud watching unfortunately led me to this.." He paused to look around the dilapidated buildings. "... unfortunate part of the village." Technically the Nara hadn't lied, and it made no difference either way if this girl knew that he was once of Konoha.

"Your ankle, are you going to be alright?" He questioned. Though he had just decided to hold off on asking such a question this part of village was no place for an injured person, shinobi or not. This girl was odd, different may have been a better term. Getting a grasp on how she held herself as a person was difficult, though all the tears were slowly putting together a picture. He saw no headband on her person, but given what she was wearing there was little room for one to be tied anywhere, perhaps it was a matter of style. Regardless, this was part of the competition and as such needed to be treated accordingly. His outward demeanor wouldn't reflect the change in attitude but he had now begun analyzing the girl, her persona, her traits, her strengths and flaws. Genius level intellect had now kicked in and if fate pitted them against each other then Shikatopu would be ready.

OOC: Short Post

Briallen would simply nod at the boy’s explanation. He wasn’t obliged to tell her his life story and neither was her. Even though she saw him as a potential he could be thinking that she was an enemy. After all she wore no headband showing what village she was from and it didn’t seem to be a problem until now that is. Brushing the dirt off her clothes Briallen would take a glance at the village she once adored. “Yeah it’s nothing, I’ll be fine. No need to worry and thanks for the help.” Briallen simply said as she began limping away, each step more painful than the last. She wanted to get away from this accursed place and head back to Kuma. It had been awhile since she had last seen him and with no friends in these chunin exams, she felt lonely and out of place. She would stagger through the streets wondering why the hell they just jumped them in konoha with no instructions on what to do. Where they that incompetent? Or were they just seeing how long she could last before the konoha anbu would pick her up and imprison her or worse, execute her.   She felt safe so far however as no Uchiha members or anbu personnel had seem to recognize her.  Maybe she wasn’t even in the bingo book?

Stubborn, perhaps a bit head strong but definitely stubborn was the initial assessment made of the girl as she slowly limped away. Exactly how far she intended to get on a bum ankle was a mystery though it didn't take a genius to figure out that the distance would be minimal. Apparently asking for help was out of the question, maybe she didn't want to impose after causing the accident in the first place, but Shikatopu's moral campus wasn't going to allow him to simply watch the struggle for movement take place. With a soft sigh the boy headed for the girl and attempted prop one of her arms over his shoulder to help displace some of the weight. Though it wasn't much in terms of actual medical treatment keeping off the damn thing would at least prevent further injury.

"Ya know, you probably weren't going to get all that far limping that slowly." He spoke, some what serious but a tad joking as well. Sometimes people were unable to get out of their own way when it came to requesting aid, and this definitely counted as one of those times. Chances were the two would probably need to head for the hospital less the girl become even more stubborn and want to tough it out on her own, which though valiant, was down right stupid considering the two of them were right in the middle of the exams.

The pain had proven too much for Briallen as she began to collapse, but before she could fall face first on the ground, she felt her arm being slung around someone’s shoulder. Titling her head to her left she would notice that it was the same kid that she ran into from earlier. With his intervention she managed to avoid another embarrassing situation and was able to keep off her bum ankle. “I’m not one to think things through, you see. I just go through with things and worry about the consequences later. A weakness some call it. I guess they are right.” A soft sigh escaped her lips as she watched the people walk by her, as much as she hated the village she still missed all the fun times she had, with her parents, with her friends that had forgotten her everything was lost. Except for this one moment. “I’m Briallen by the way.” She said with a weak smile

PostSubject: Re: Return to a Place Once Known   Return to a Place Once Known Icon_minitimeWed Oct 02, 2013 11:26 pm

The Genin sighed mentally as he listened to the girl's response, she was definitely a mixture of stubbornness and possibly a bit of stupidity. Had this been a test of battle skills the girl surely would have lost, quickly at that. Perhaps the boy judged so harshly because he thought everything through, multiple times at that. It had just been the norm for him, most of his family to be honest, so just letting things play out as they were had never been an option. He wondered what that felt like, to just go with the flow when it came to... everything, though quickly discarded the thought for such thinking was dangerous. "Nah, just the product of a free spirit, I suppose." Shikatopu replied, attempting to empathize with the girl. In all honestly he probably would have been one of those people calling such a trait a weakness, but having been a part of the reason she was injured had altered the boy somehow.

"Shikatopu." He replied with a slight smirk. In Suna the name was odd but rarely rung a bell to most of the villagers. His heritage was anonymous. Compare that to Konoha when just his first name gave away everything about him, and adding on the 'Nara' surname was more redundant than anything. However, the boy didn't see that being an issue with Briallen. Granted, she wore no headband to denote what village she was representing which was a bit odd; perhaps she had decided to go without it. As many benefits as there were to being a shinobi sometimes it was better to go incognito every once in a while to see how the other half lived.

Dark eyes scanned the area for a few moments before resting upon a vacant bench. "There." He said while pointing with his free hand. Though proper medical attention was still necessary it wouldn't do any more harm to sit down for a few minutes.
